In which Thor overcame his own formidable impulse and temper control issues because he’s learned that not doing so lost him a beloved member of his family, possibly for good, even though that family member is actually still alive (which makes it even worse somehow) ….in order to help another man not make the same sort of mistakes.

How’s that for the words, sort of close?

And you have to wonder how much Bruce is in there trying already, and feels remorse for something that’s not even his fault.

P.S. who taught Thor “Try to think?”

Who was it that said, “Thor, stop. And think.” In Jotunheim, surrounded by impossible odds?

Yeah. The guy locked in Bruce’s glass prison cell a few rooms away, who is responsible for this chaos.

I hate you Joss Whedon, give me back my heart.

I also love how Thor probably doesn’t know anything about the Hulk, really. Everyone else just accepts him as a mindless monster, because that’s what everyone’s been led to believe he is. I mean, Tony even acts like that! He gives Bruce so much credit for his control, jokes around with him and all. Steve respects him for his ability as a scientist and treats him like a person, but he’s obviously scared of the Hulk. Natasha and Fury both try to get Bruce in the cage as soon as there’s any chance of Bruce Hulking out.

You know they’ve all read some personnel file that says the Hulk is a mindless brute who can’t be stopped.

But then there’s Thor, who probably has no idea how or why Banner is the Hulk. But he’s calling him /Banner/, telling him to think, trusting that he has the reasoning left within him not to hurt his friends.

And of course, we find out later that he actually does.

So I actually really love Thor at this part, despite problems I have with him at other points in this movie. Because even while being attacked, Bruce is his teammate, and he won’t give up on him.

Remind you of Thor’s approach towards anyone else? Or a certain scene during the battle with a certain god of mischief?
